Research on the Islands

The Baja California Pacific Islands are home to a wealth of biodiversity, and many species found nowhere else on earth. The eight islands featured here are part of the California Floristic Province, one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots – an area with very high numbers of endemic species that is heavily impacted by mankind.

This website serves to summarize our current knowledge of the flora of each of the eight northernmost islands. We will endeavor to update this website repeatedly, so it can serve as a resource for anyone interested in the plants of these isolated ecosystems.
